Seychelles Honeymoon Itinerary: 12 Days of Beaches, Culture & Adventure

“It’s as though I’d drunk a bottle of anise and fallen asleep wrapped in a quilt of roses. It pulls me along – and I know I’m drowning” – Garcia Lorca

This quote perfectly sums up my feelings about Seychelles. I visited on my honeymoon in 2019, and from the moment we arrived, I was completely in love. Twelve days of white sand beaches, palm trees swaying in the breeze, unforgettable sunsets, and tropical heat made for the most perfect start to married life.

Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 idyllic islands off East Africa in the Indian Ocean. For couples seeking a mix of luxury, culture, nature, hiking, and water sports, this 12-day itinerary is ideal.

Itinerary Overview:

  • Days 1–8: Explore and relax on Mahé
  • Days 8–11: Discover Praslin and La Digue
  • Days 11–12: Return to Mahé and depart

Itinerary

Days 1 -3: Relax!

Since we flew out the day after our wedding, the first few days were all about unwinding. We stayed at the luxurious Constance Ephelia Mahé, which offered beautiful beaches, sprawling pools, and a world-class spa.

Highlights:

  • Snorkeling in crystal-clear waters right off the beach
  • Lounging on powdery white sands
  • Enjoying the hotel’s spa—Day 3 featured the best massage I’ve ever had!

Day 4: Explore Mahé

My colleagues had advised me not to miss venturing off-resort, so my husband and I rented a car for a self-guided tour.

Top stops on Mahé:

  • Seychelles Tea Factory: Walked around the plantation and gift shop; guided tours show tea production from leaf to cup (book ahead if possible).
  • Victoria: The world’s smallest capital is full of charm—colourful colonial houses, Selwyn-Clarke Market (fresh seafood, spices, paintings), a replica of Big Ben, the Cathedral, and a Hindu temple.
  • Mission Lodge: A stunning lookout with panoramic views—perfect for photos and a moment of serenity.
  • Best Beaches: Beau Vallon, Carana Beach (water sports galore), Anse Intendance, Anse Louise, and Anse Royale—some stretches felt completely private!

Tip: Renting a car is the easiest way to explore the island at your own pace.

Day 5: Reef Safari at St. Anne National Marine Park

We booked a tour with Mason’s Travels for their famous Reef Safari. The day included:

  • Snorkeling with tropical fish and rays
  • Glass-bottom boat rides
  • Seeing Giant Tortoises

It was an unforgettable introduction to Seychelles’ marine life. Read about my experience in depth here.

Day 6: Relax at the Hotel

We spent a day unwinding and trying water sports. Paddleboarding was hilarious—my husband kept getting stuck on rocks—but fun nonetheless.

Day 7: Zip-lining at Constance Ephelia

Our hotel offered the only zip-lining experience in Seychelles. After a steep climb, we soared over tropical jungle with panoramic views of the coastline. A perfect mix of adrenaline and scenery!

Day 8: Ferry to Praslin

After enjoying breakfast in the hotel, we took a taxi to the port, ready for the next island on the itinerary – Praslin! We took the ferry with Cat Cocos and the journey was around 90 minutes. Guys – I have experienced a lot of boat rides in my short time on this earth – but THIS, this ride from Mahe to Praslin… I have no words. It started off well, but then the boat began to nosedive over mammoth waves. Its similar to a kid in a bathtub playing with a toy boat and rocking it side to side and front to back as hard as possible – that’s what we had to devour. Sorry I have no pictures of this event – I was too busy holding on for dear life.

Few tips that might help you though – whatever you do, DO NOT GET AN AISLE SEAT. People might get sick and run to the bathroom. Just don’t do it…

Once we reached land (thank goodness), we took a taxi to Coco de Mer Hotel. This is located in the beautiful south-west region of the island, right on Anse Bois de Rose.

We checked in at Coco de Mer Hotel on Anse Bois de Rose and enjoyed the infinity pools—one shaped like a giant Coco de Mer nut!

Day 9: Day Trip to La Digue

We woke up early and had the breakfast buffet from the hotel – it was SO delicious. A short 15-minute ferry ride took us to La Digue – the ultimate postcard island. This is the true paradise guys – THIS is what everyone imagines when they think about an exotic trip. As soon as we arrived, we rented a bicycle from one of the many rental places you can find close to the jetty. It was really romantic and was a great way to see the island at your own pace! We explored the island and discovered some beautiful hidden beaches and caves. The most famous beaches over there are Grand Anse and Anse Source d’Argent – they had sparkling blue waters, white powdery beaches dotted with Seychelles’ characteristic black rocks.

Tip: Arrive early to avoid crowds at Anse Source d’Argent.

Day 10: Explore Praslin

We rented a car to visit the island’s best sites:

  • Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve: UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the rare Coco de Mer palm. Guided walks are essential to spot the endangered black parrot.
  • Côte d’Or Beach (Anse Volbert): The longest, most popular beach—perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
  • Anse Lazio: One of the world’s top 10 beaches; quiet, serene, and ideal for a sunset view.

We wanted to see sunset at Anse Lazio – one of the top 10 in the world’s most beautiful beaches. Luckily, we caught the sunset just in time and it was just so quiet and picturesque. The area around this beautiful Praslin beach is privately owned by one family for a few generations now, but they have now opened this beach to the public for free.

Dinner at the hotel featured live music, the sound of waves, and perfect tropical cuisine.

Day 11: Back to Mahé by Plane

To avoid ferry delays, we flew back to Mahé on a small plane. At first, I thought it was unnecessary to pay almost three times more than if we were to take the ferry, but boy im glad we did! I never went on such a small plane before and it was super cool sitting right behind the pilot – we were basically flying the plane! It was stunning seeing the islands from above.

We stayed at Kempinski Seychelles Resort and it was just beautiful.

In the afternoon, we wanted to do a gentle hike to “Mount Kempinski” which promised spectacular views from the summit. We requested the complimentary transfer to the summit trail from the front desk. It took around 20 minutes walking through the dense tropical jungle to reach the top of the mountain. It was so worth it as the views were even better than promised.

Day 12: Departure

After a final walk on the beach, we headed to the airport. Seychelles had been everything we hoped for – and more. Romantic, luxurious, and full of natural beauty, it’s the perfect honeymoon destination.
