Weekend Getaways In Europe

The best thing about living in Europe is that there are so many opportunities for you to travel. Flights are usually quite cheap and the distance to get from one country to the next is short. You could easily travel to another European city for a day and be back for dinner! You could also spend a full weekend exploring another city.

As a part-time traveller, I try and utilize my weekends and annual leave wisely and so if we throw in a few bank holidays here and there, we can enjoy a few trips to different European countries in one year.

Have a look at some of my three/four day itineraries below:

Fuerteventura in Pictures

Fuerteventura was one of those islands that had always been on my radar but had somehow never visited. During the house renovation process, Khaled and i wanted to escape from the madness and dust and relax on a beach. We decided to book a low-cost, all-inclusive holiday with TUI. The hotel was beaut – a…

Exploring Naples in One Day

When we tell people that we are going to spend one day in Naples, we are often told that it is “dirty”, “dangerous” and to “skip it if you can”. We actually felt safe when visiting and thought it was authentic. Oh and the food… the food was something out of this world. Ending our…

Pompeii, the City Buried Alive

It would be impossible to visit the south of Italy and not go to the ancient city of Pompeii. Before we booked our tickets, we knew we had to spend half of a day roaming the street of Pompeii. If you’re visiting Pompeii by car like we did, take the A3 Napoli-Salerno motorway and exit…

Doing the Amalfi Coast on a Budget

The Amalfi Coast Road, the SS163 is a 50km specular road, hugging the cliffs and coves of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The gravity-defying road with twists and winds from the Sorrento peninsula to Salerno and has the most incredible views of pastel painted villages and cliffs. As we were in the middle of a house renovation,…

Day trip to the island of Capri from Sorrento

An island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea and opposite the Sorrento Peninsula, the Island of Capri is as beautiful in real life as it is in the movies and how I imaged it to be. We spent one full day in the island of Capri whilst we were on a 5-day holiday to the Amalfi…

Day Trip to Transylvania

Romania is enchanting and captivating as it is mysterious. My husband, sister and I decided to have a city getaway in March 2021 in the midst of a house renovation – so what better way than to spend a long weekend in Romania. Nestled between Moldova, Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria, Romania is known for its…

4 Days in Bucharest, Romania

Some capital cities don’t get the recognition that they deserve and the Romanian city of Bucharest is surely one of them. I had very little knowledge of the city and only know it as a popular stag weekend destination or a transit to get to Romania’s popular Transylvania region. Though it is both of those…

Longleat Adventure and Safari Review – Lockdown Edition

We actually came here for our first wedding anniversary, in June 2020 during the first Covid-19 lockdown. It was a fantastic day out for couples and for families. Some facilities and attractions were closed or restricted this year, due to there being extra safety rules, pre-booking requirements or one-way systems in place. It may be…

How to Spend 24 Hours in Bergen

The final stop of Norway in a Nutshell tour was Bergen – one of the oldest port cities in Europe.  With only 24 hours to spare, including an overnight stay, we wanted to see as much as we could of the city. Luckily, with Bergen being a small city, we were able to cover its main…
